I've had a Zilla digital power strip from about a month after Falkor came to me. Before all he had was a UVB tube light and a 60W basking lamp, power bill went up roughly $10-$25 with no strip. Now he has a Mega-Ray 100W SB, 60W basking lamp, warm mist humidifier, and an el cheapo space heater (used to heat the whole room since he's still in open air)
I went with this particular power strip to avoid losing settings in a power blink (battery backup) and because I'm not normally at home when his lights need to be turned on/off. But at the new place with all these additional things running off of the power strip, the power bill is still usually only $40-$80. In addition to his power strip there are still all appliances running (last place had no fridge) I have discovered my "energy hawg" of the house... The dryer. But that will change next week.
Anywho, my question really is whether or not having one outlet supplying power to that many devices is an energy saver? It seems that it would be, possibly just amplifying the power within the power strip to adequately support all the goodies?
Just a little FYI needed here. Also, can someone explain to me whether or not I could control enough of these devices through a thermostat to adequately regulate temperature? I've researched, but can't really get a straight forward answer. My "heating devices" are; Mega-Ray 100W SB, 60W basking lamp, and hopefully soon a CHE.
One last question on the CHE, the new enclosure will be roughly 6' high, 6'-7' wide and 40" deep; would that call for a 60W, 100W or whatever wattage CHE?
Thanks in advance!
