I got Gretchen a mercury vapor bulb last year, and it didn't seem to do this.
My new ones this year are giving off a weird smell. It doesn't smell hot - it's almost like burnt butter.
Anyone else's bulbs smell? Is it an initial thing and it wears off - or will it continue? I noticed they have a chalky surface, I wasn't sure if it was the source of the weird smell or not.
