I'm really sorry that happened. I suggest that you ask the vet to test for wound bacteria and culture it. It may be that some gram negative bacteria could make them sick. I've always suspected that my cat died because of an iguana bite, but I'll never know for sure. The vet wasn't an exotics vet that took care of the cat. The bite didn't even tear the skin (just puncture), but she lost weight and died. The vet thought it was kidneys.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I won't get other pets because of this difficulty. Iguanas and most other animals can be a dangerous mix.
