Awfully sorry to hear of this tragedy...I know first hand that it happens tho with multi pet homes.

My dog has been bitten twice now by our male ig and neither time did he get stitches because the vet didnt want to "seal" in bacteria.
Dont know if thats helpful or not but its my only reference for you.
