make sure theres no plastic covering on the light fixture.
As far as taming goes...it is a long process, sometimes over a year.
I found bath time to be helpful coz you can sit on the floor with your arm over side and over a few weeks, move closer til you can slide your hand under him.
Handle him as often as you can for as long as you can, move away from his enclousre cause they are territorial and never put him down when his squirming, wait for him to calm down.
Try to never come at him from above, hard to do if he is in a tank but iguanas have a third eye called the parietal eye , it senses dark and light and danger from above, such as birds. Its located right in the middle of the top of the head.
