emergency vet appointment-how to pick up an iguanaa

Hi, my son got a rescue iguana about 2-3 years ago. he has cared for it well, however, he was unexpectedly deployed with the NG and is now serving in afghanistan. I have been taking care of her and everything was going fine. Unfortunately she got her claw stuck while i was at work and it had torn the nail out in her struggles. I made an appointment for the vet, but I have no idea how to pick her up. She's not been aggressive, a few times she whipped her tail and she def blows up her body when i put my hand near. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks
