My iguana has been in my home for almost two years and I got him when he was a baby. He has been to the doctor and I was told that he is exceptionally healthy. He's in a 7 foot tall cage (custom built) but the door stays open at all times so he can roam if he wants to. He does walk around occasionally and once in a while he gets stuck on top of the curtains etc. and we have to get him down. Other than that I don't hold him because he is very mean and aggressive.
I can attest to the fact that no one has ever been mean to him but he just isn't warming up to me at all after two years. In fact, he's becoming more aggressive and charges me if I try to put a bowl of food in his cage. My real concern is when I go out of town and have others watching over him.
Will this behavior get better? Is it his age? Or should I throw in the towel and adopt him out for my families safety? Any advice from more experienced iguana owners would be a great help.
