And so much of what you said made sense! Especially in terms of why I had no issues with Ignatius in the beginning! It wasn't until he charged at me and I flinched that we started having problems and it's because I let him win one time and he's just been going with it lol.
We have been wanting to get rid of the wire and I guess this is the push we needed. We had seen videos online where people had used it and it was was so much cheaper than the plexiglas. :/ We actually have plywood on 3 walls so it's just a matter of changing that front wall. Also a good idea leaving him covered for awhile to see if that helps at all. Also the routines!! Great idea! I didn't know that a routine was such a big deal and I feel so bad for him now! We were feeding him about the same time every day just because of our schedules but when he started with the charging and we started letting him win, his schedule became no more. Poor guy! Also great idea about the towel! I don't know why I hadn't thought of that! I feel so encouraged now that we can get him back to his only slightly crotchety self lol. We have talked about letting him free roam but we have a cat that is very old and with Ignatius so aggressive I didn't want to risk something happening to the cat.
I'm not sure of the exact dimensions of his cage, I'll have to ask my Husband. I'm sure it could stand to be bigger but it's taller than me and quite wide and deep. Like you mentioned, with the wire it's hard to know the exact temperature but I know my Husband monitored it for the first week or so and that's how we knew to get 2 heat bulbs because one wasn't good enough. We had a humidifier set up to blow in there during the day for awhile but the layout of the room changed and we haven't built a shelf for the humidifier to rest on so he hasn't had that for awhile. Plus we noticed that while it was blowing it lowered the temperature in the cage.
Thank you so much for your advice!! Thanks to you I think we can be the ones that end up winning this! :)
