Not much they can do for a break and it may heal with a knot in it but keep an eye out for blackening skin, dark gray or even a shade of brown. Often with a break, the blood flow is interrupted and the tissue dies and gangrene sets in, which could be fatal if it spreads to the blood stream.
This would require amputation.

Breaks do happen but they are not normal. Be sure you have good UVB lighting, not blocked by plastic, fine screen or any solid material and that the bulb is close enough for proper output.
Tube bulbs should be replaced every 6 months and Mercury Vapor Bulbs no more than every 18 months. Compact bulbs are basically usless.
