The youngest we had died of Ovarian cancer at age 4- she lived about a year after surgery and one 11 yr old for np reason that I knew of , one minute she was fine, and hour later she was gone, just like that. I had tried to get her to the vet for a necropsy to find out why but the timing didnt work out.
The one that hit me the hardest was a rescue we only had for 2 yrs and she came to us nearly dead. I cried for days upon days and sometimes still do even tho its been 3 years.
Last Dec. we lost our biggest male , we had him for almost 7 yrs and he was age 14/ He had stomach cancer and never woke up after surgery, which was best as it had spread to his heart and other organs but we felt cheated by not being able to say goodbye. :/ His name was cedro and man he was a jerk of an ig , hated us, stalked and attacked us... he was a big iggy bully but oh how we loved him . Altho we are in our 40s boy did my husband bawl for days. Miss that big ol'meanie!
We currently have 6 igs, one would think it would make it easier, having so many, but they are all so unique and special in their own ways.
we have loved many and miss each that we have lost. Not many people get that I guess. Ive heard countless times "it was just a lizard" ...oh if they only knew they are so much more than that!
Hang in there...the day will come when you can smile about the silly lizard adventures you two had and it wont hurt quite as much. And feel free to post about here her, we get it , we really do!
