I finally had to call all the dog-walkers and pet sitters in my area. Only a couple were interested in keeping track of my iguana. The one I chose demonstrated that she was pet sitting to create income, and was most motivated to do a good job and gain new customers. She was very serious about taking animals under her charge. She agreed to look in on him every day, and to change his water, and to feed him. I gave my vet an open Visa charge in case my iguana needed vet care. But she wasn't interested in picking him up. So it wasn't a perfect arrangement, but at least I could call in to find out if anything seemed to be happening, and I could be confident that she would visit my ig every day.
You might be able to find someone like that in your community.
Are you saying that no vet within reach could board your iguana?
