The rule of thumb for captive iguana substrates is pretty firm: Newspaper only. Any made of particles are dangerous. Iguanas often eat inedible particles like pea gravel, crushed walnut shells, dirt, wood shavings, Bed-A-Beast, etc. It leads impactions, which lead to big vet bills. You don't want to take any chances with this issue.
Also, newspaper is by far the easiest substrate to change out.
