I'm so sorry for the loss of Ella. Since everyone mentioned me, I'll throw in my 2 cents, but they've pretty much covered it. As long as you had the dogs wounds flushed out well, and they are on antibiotics I would expect them to be OK. But iguana bites are known to get infected so they definitely should be on oral antibiotics after something like this.

Sorry you lost your iggy. if Stacey notices this post she might know what to suggest for your dog - you'll definitely want to make sure everything gets stitched up and some antibiotics are administered but I dont know what ones for dogs etc.... Iguana bites are known to infect a bit.

We are truly sorry for your loss Joe, sad to hear. I would imagine with the dogs' wound to clean them and maybe some blue lotion spray? That's what we used on our "hog dogs." Know that you've got a whole lot of people here sending good thoughts, prayers and wishes your way.

Awfully sorry to hear of this tragedy...I know first hand that it happens tho with multi pet homes. My dog has been bitten twice now by our male ig and neither time did he get stitches because the vet didnt want to "seal" in bacteria. Dont know if thats helpful or not but its my only reference for you. Good luck Joe.

I'm really sorry that happened. I suggest that you ask the vet to test for wound bacteria and culture it. It may be that some gram negative bacteria could make them sick. I've always suspected that my cat died because of an iguana bite, but I'll never know for sure. The vet wasn't an exotics vet that took care of the cat. The bite didn't even tear the skin (just puncture), but she lost weight and died. The vet thought it was kidneys. I'm so sorry for your loss. I won't get other pets because of this difficulty. Iguanas and most other animals can be a dangerous mix.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I don't have any concrete "vet" info for you other than to watch for infection. If Stacey in TN sees this she should be able to give you more insight!
