we went on Vacation for 1 week we had someone come in to take care of Zeus (female 4yr old rescued iguana)my question is while we were gone she pooped almost everyday.. kinda concerned she usually only poops 2 times a week. she always has been very calm but was skidish w/me..&when we returned she looked very skinny is this because she pooped all week? was she scared of him? did she miss us. i am concerned but since we have been back she hasnt pooped any. last vet visit she was given a clean bill of health (said she was spoiled) haha. thanks in advance.

Even when we go away for a weekend my ig is unimpressed. He usually eats a huge bowl of food in the morning and then has another good helping of food when I get home and poops every single day, the odd time even twice.
I have someone who is very knowledgeable with herps to come feed my zoo while I’m gone but they draw the line at handling the ig. He is also a rescue and so far he is only handled by me. When we are gone he only ever eats half of what he normally does and when I return he shows a little attitude the first day or two. I’d follow Hanna’s advise and up his humidity, he should be clearing his system out a little more frequently then that I would think.

Your iggy should be pooping nearly everyday. I'd up the humidity for her or maybe give her a nice bathtub soaking daily if possible. Add some squishy fruits to her diet like watermelon or cantelope, honeydew, strawberries or even just grape halves. That should take care of that. Our iggy, Miko used to punish us for leaving him by pooping everywhere and tearing up his house, then not letting us pet him or coming out of his house. This happened everytime we vacationed--small 4 day trips--until we found a pet sitter who loved lizards and Miko took to her and her hubby. I think they spoiled him badly, which he loved and so was a much happier iggy when we went on our little vacas. What I think is the key is to have whoever sits for your iggy to get to know him so it isn't this 'stranger' person, but what he sees as a 'pal'. Try having the sitter over for lunch or supper at least once a month to say hello to Zeus. These are intelligent animals and do remember people they like--and dislike. Try that out these tips and I can guarantee you'll have a happier --and more regular iggy, and a happier sitter!

Lizzie is the opposite. She poops every day, and will stare at me & start to go if I don't get her in the tub when her highness says it's time. When I go away for 4 or 5 days and have someone in to feed her, she holds it the entire time so she can give it to me all at once when I get back. I know she does it on purpose, the stinker.
