That's a very bad problem, but you can stop it. I call it snout bashing. |
First, is his cage up high at 6 or 7 feet? That will help him feel more secure.
When I was using wire for cages, I had to line the bottom 7 inches of the cage's walls on the interior side with cardboard. If he jumps up to bash the wire above the barrier, then you have to extend the barrier.
Do you have Hot Melt Glue? Use that to fasten the cardboard to the wire wall.
Is it possible that something is intimidating him when you're not around? Like a cat sitting on the outside watching him? Is he being teased by kids? Does he have a secure place to hide his entire body?
