Try a few other iguana/lizard forums, too. Monitor lizards are very popular, and several of the popular ones are high-humidity, high temperature tropicals, just like iguanas. |
The Nile Monitor makes a !horrible! extremely violent, large (30 pounds at least I think) pet who stalks their owners (30 pounds!!), but are popular anyway, probably because the babies are so cheap. They are mostly aquatic but live well in a seriously high humidity seriously well designed captive environment. The same with the Dumeril's Monitor I think, only they are less aquatic, but they are definitely more popular. Some of the smaller water monitors are very popular too. Those owners deal with the same practical problems that we do with our iguanas. So Monitor Forums might bear fruit for you. If you get a forum dominated by put-down artists, tell them good-by, don't take the abuse.
If all fails, try contacting European iguana/Ctenosaurus (a close cousin to iguanas) forums. Those guys can be very technical. Englanders post to this forum sometimes, and there are probably British Isles iguana forums. Some of the Isles get very cold in Winter. I bet our computers can translate German, French, and Swedish. Plus most Europeans speak some English, since it's required in their lower level schooling.
