Iguana only eats lettuce, help!

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, my brother bought an iguana from the flea market, the iguana is a juvenile iguana, less than a year old. The iguana only eats lettuce, and I am very concerned on the lack of nutrition, my brother says that is the food they were feeding them prior to buying it from the random seller. Not only that my brother is convinced iguanas eat bugs too and went out to buy bearded dragon bug mix, I know now that iguanas can eat anything, very rarely/ almost never bugs, their primary diet is leaves, fruits and veggies. |
We have never owned an iguana, and I know they are truly a hassle, but I still do not want this little guy to die on me. I am now the only one making an effort to keep this iguana alive.
The first day, it was taking bites out of a apple wedge, so I tried it again the following weeks, nothing. Within those weeks, I tried iceberg lettuce since my brother said that is what it ate over there, no luck either. I even attempted feeding it the following: broccoli, kale, cabbage, carrots, tomato, banana, two different types of apples (diced to bite size pieces) and papaya. The iguana still didn't eat those, until my brother brought romaine lettuce, he was chomping it down, since then I have only been feeding him that. Along with the romaine lettuce, I tried three store bought iguana items, the National Geographic Herbivorous Reptile Entree, which is semi-moist pellets. The Zilla Juvenile Iguana Fortified Food , Zoo Med Natural Juvenile Iguana Food plus the Zoo Med Juvenile Iguana Canned Formula All these and no luck either, I even tried moistening the dry pellets. I intend to try others I am currently eyeing (store bought food). But before I do, I wanted to ask for help. I am going for the other staple greens my next grocery visit, hopefully that works.
As for his droppings, I searched up "healthy" iguana droppings, his seems exactly like the pictures. His physical appearance has not changed, he walks and occasionally at night runs from end to end around the reptile tank, I mist the tank, and make sure the humidity and temperature is just right. Other than that, this is all I can report, would love to hear some tips!
