I have had my iguanas now for at least 5 years. They live in a cage at night and in the garden in the day. They travel with me if I go away at weekends, which they seem to enjoy very much. I live in Mexico and I take them to Acapulco or in the mountains of Tepoztlan. I have just come back with them both from Acapulco. The weather in Mexico is colder than Acapulco, so I make sure, as always, that there house is warmer whilst adjusting. One of my iguanas, on the day after we arrived home to Mexico City, was as usual, happy in the garden and then all of a sudden went crazy and jumped into a pond we have with fish and turtles. He stayed right at the bottom and wouldn't come out. I had to drag him out, then he went into a very strange crazy mode again and jumped back in (they never normally like the water). When I got him out the next time, he went crazy banging into walls and trying to hide. He seemed terrified. There was nothing in the garden at all and scraping his stomach on the floor. Last night he went back into the crazy mode again, and i put him in his cage. He normally comes out at 8a.m. in the morning, but today he won't come out at all. He has a box chamber that he goes into at night, and won't come out. He is alive, but won't budge. My iguanas weigh around 15lbs each, are very healthy and I have never had a problem, as long as they are never together. They are both male.
I was wondering if you can give me some information. We don`t have people here who have experience on iguanas. They have a vet, but they look everything up when they have to go.
I am very worried about him, and would be grateful for any information at all.
