Hello! About several months ago, I posted about my iguana only eating lettuce, he is very much alive still and I found a product he likes to eat! Even so, I am still not finding luck in getting him to eat other veggies and fruits. Here are the several things I have tried: Papaya, Collard Greens, Green Beans, Yellow Squash, Kale, Spinach, Apples, Grapes, Banana, Bok Choy, Mustard Greens, broccoli, carrots, tomato even some iguana safe flowers. |
I am aware some of those are not necessarily the best, but I just wanted to give it a try, plus the selection for fresh veggies at my local grocery stores are not the best! Whole Foods would be ideal but nearly half an hour away! The five types commercial foods I have tried as well did not work besides the Nature Zone Baby Iguana Bites mixed with green leaf lettuce. Which again, I am aware it is not nutritional but it encourages him to eat.
The other thing is I've tried several ways to make him eat, by mixing it all together, separating each item to see what he likes, chopping it into bite size pieces, and no luck. I recently bought Mazuri Small Tortoise Diet LS (which can be fed to Iguanas) and he did not eat that. Before I go buy the other few commercial iguana food...
Anyone have food suggestions?
Besides the food issue, he has shed, defecates, and is very active! I am trying to train him to adjust to a harness leash for the future so I can take him to get some sun and fresh air. And I believe he is about 6-9 months old...
