He is confined and I do still interact several times a day. |
I think the biggest problem is that he was pretty well isolated from much traffic, strangers and stimulation. He had a very nice "room" that was plenty big in his prior home but they dont have nearly the amount of people we do . He arrived on a friday, saturday we had lots of guest, my kids had friends over, people wanted to see him and we played maybe to much show and tell.
Saturday he went in the suncage. He spent the entire time leaning as far over on his perch as possible, with one eye pointed at the sky.
I believe this was an indication of feeling vulnerable and frightened. He has only bee to the vet once and had 2 other car rides in 10 years. He has not been exposed to the outdoors or strange noises, ( weekends at my house consist of guitars, drums and loud voices)noisey kids, teenage tribes. I think he is in sensory overload.
I dont know if I am doing it right, but I am feeling bad for the guy, so giving this a go. I pet him many times a day, hand feed him, we chat and so on, he hasnt tried to bite but I did get a good tail whack to my back shoulder area. That really smarted but I picked him up anyways , havnt had that issues again- yet. :)
