Still haven't held her yet, but we are making great progress. She is still dealing with red mites but she's calm enough now that she'll tolerate me taking a q-tip and gently swiping them off of her when I see them. I get the occasional (weak) tail whip but that's it. She's also eating large leaves I hold in front of her, so that's a plus as well. |
As for the mites, we cleaned out the bottom of the cage and substrate as best we could but the stupid pests kept showing up. She has a flat rock on a high shelf in her cage that's under her basking light and I decided to peek under the rock the other night...yup, mites and eggs galore. We removed the rock and let it soak in a water and bleach solution and later this week we're going to take her cage out to the garage, cover it in large plastic bags, then flea bomb it. She'll get free reign in the bathroom in the meantime.
