Hello Iguana Society! My iguana Spike needs help.. A recent skin condition has appeared on my iguana, and it has been here for a couple weeks. Originally, I thought it may have been a discomfort problem causing the area of his scales to turn dark. idk if it's a fungal infection, because I try to keep his cage clean by removing feces shortly after production, and recently I changed substrate. For years, I was mistakingly using bark for substrate. We baked it in the oven to kill any potential mites, but this doesn't right the wrong. Now, I use butcher paper, which is much cleaner and better. |
Back to the problem, I do not know if it really is a fungal infection, the dark areas aren't in spots (like I've seen in google) Ultimately, I will probably have to visit a vet.
If the image isn't clear enough (his slight bend is creating the creases) I can try getting another one. This one just has a more accurate color to it.
I love my iguana Spike, but I wish that my past self did more research to realize what I needed to do, and the mistakes I have made for years..
Help for this fool (me) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
