"The Wild Dogs" is also available from Netflix. Their write up reads:
Set in the bleak streets of a ravaged Bucharest, this drama follows three people as they struggle with their futile surroundings. Shaken to the bone by the city's rampant homelessness and packs of stray dogs, Canadian pornographer Geordie (Thom Fitzgerald), the wife of a corrupt diplomat (Alberta Watson) and the city dogcatcher (Mihai Calota) must decide what action to take, if any, to help Bucharest's orphans, beggars, gypsies and stray dogs.
I also saw this at the Toronto premiere. Scenes from the film are still vivid in my mind and still make me shudder/cringe. I own a DVD of it. I recently fast-forwarded through to Ger's parts for screen caps. Other than that I have never played it and doubt that I ever will.
This is an extremely hard film to view for anyone with a social conscience and for any dog owner.
BTW, Thom Fitzgerald who plays the main character also wrote and directed the movie. Alberta Watson (female lead) played the mother in "Some Things That Stay". Ger's role is almost a cameo--very little screen time (I think 2 or 3 scenes?).
