At midnight on February 17, 2009, all full-power television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting. Households wishing to keep using their analog TV sets after February 17, 2009 will need a converter for each TV. The Program allows U.S. households to obtain up to two coupons, each worth $40, that can be applied toward the cost of eligible converter boxes.
A TV connected to cable, satellite or other pay TV service does not require a TV converter box from this program.
Group homes such as nursing homes, boarding houses, senior citizen homes, convents, etc., are not eligible!
If you know someone in a group facility please check to make sure they have either pay-TV (cable, satellite, etc.) or have a fairly new set that is ready for the change-over.
If you do not need any (or both) coupons please consider requesting them anyway and giving them to a group home.
FYI: Coupons are good for only 90 days.
More information on the program can be found at dtv2009.gov
