He did say she was difficult and that there was no chemistry. Ger's character was supposed to be obsessed with hers so the lack of chemistry made the portrayal difficult until the director pointed out that obsession can also be the result of negative feelings/hate.
Ger later appeared on the same bill as KN when he co-hosted the re-opening of the Hummingbird Center in Toronto.
