I headed for Stratford for the weekend...kinda spur of the moment...
Border traffic was so horrible that I sat for hours in stop&go traffic (more like parking!). There was an ambulance next to me and one attendant actually walked up and down the line of cars checking on senior citizens and giving them bottles of water! He did not check on me so I guess I don't look like a senior yet!
I didn't get into Canada until 7pm so no way could I make an 8pm curtain! Maybe I could sneak in at intermission...NOT!!!!!
I arrived in Stratford proper at 9:10. I opted to go to my b&b so my dog Bud could be comfortable (Bud loves this b&b)....talk about comfortable...he said his hellos then took himself to our room on his own while I chatted with my hosts!!!!!!! I got him settled then headed to the theatre in the hopes of catching any fans/members who may have been there but was too late for even that.
But.....
As I rounded the corner I see do see a familiar face! I pulled over and called to Ger and said I was just saying hi and had managed to miss the play because of traffic. Ger laughed and replied "well, it's not like you haven't seen it a few dozen times before!". (So true!) We then met at a local spot for a chat and a drink.
Ger wants everyone to know that his daughter Pyper has an art exhibit in the York Street Kitchen! Ger is very proud and wants everyone to visit the Kitchen if you get to Stratford.
He is absolutely thrilled with Camelot and Falstaff for 2011.. The last Falstaff at Stratford was Peter Hutt so he has big shoes to fill. He is eager to work with the variety of actors in Merry Wives but is worried that the play might not be a big draw as it is one of the lesser plays but the top three performers all have good fan bases-GWD, Brian D, Tom R-and the female lead has fans from her run on a comedy show so it should be good.
