All this talk about nickname has got me thinking about them... I never had a nickname (except Scooter), so I'm kind of obsessed. I tend to like nicknames and then try to find names that could be longer versions that I like, rather than the other way around...
Currently I love:
Nell, Nellie (Eleanor? Eliane, Penelope, ??)
Maisie (Margaret? I had a great aunt Margaret who was really cool)
Mamie (??)
Hetty or Hattie (I actually love both Henrietta and Harriet)
Bess, Bessie (sick of Elizabeth, though)
Ellie (might be getting too popular with all the Ellas, Isabellas etc).
Tilly (Matilda is too obvious? Could this be short for Teresa, or is that stretching it? The only other thing I can think of is Clothilde/Clotilda, which I think is awful)
