The movie, "Hope Floats", introduced me to the name Birdee, portrayed by Sandra Bullock, and it struck me as very strange then, though I did become accustomed to it for that character through the film. Birdee's daughter is Bernice and, while I realize it is a far more traditional name than Birdee, the sound of it will never work for me. Something about it makes me want to respond with "bless you".
While I would not consider either name usuable myself, at least Birdee conjurs some down-home southern, simple folk charm in my mind (thanks to the film). I certainly find it an improvement over "Busy".
I can think of no justification what so ever for "Peanut" as anything other than an affectionate nickname. Poor kid.
