Millie, on the other hand, is a very cute nn. I taught a Millie, and have a cousin Millie, both of whom are properly called Amelia. There was a sad case a few years ago of a Millie who disappeared, but in her case it was short for Amanda. God only knows how they got there!
Why not Millie short for Melisande? It's a bit tenuous, but I've seen worse!
