Because we have so many new members, and a few rules that have changed from last year, here is a general rundown of our Tournament Procedures...
Everyone should launch ahead of time, and motor over to the Marina. The campground ramp is the closest. The Marina will be closed, but Brandi has given us permission to use it. Please try to be at the marina at least 30-45 minutes prior to take off.
About 30-45 minutes prior to take off, the volunteer Tournament Directors (wearing orange vests) will come around to check livewells, and issue boat numbers. The boat number order is determined by a random drawing prior to going to the lake. It determines the order of take off. It will save a lot of time if everyone has their livewells open, and stays near their boats when the TD's come around.
Please note that a portion of each boat entry goes into a Big Bass Pool that is awarded by the club for each day of a tournament. In addition to that pool, the Hawg Hawlers has an optional 50/50 BIG BASS side pot. Tournament Chairman, Bob Treadway will be collecting $10.00 per boat for all who choose to enter. Bob is pulling double duty at this tournament, as he will also be checking livewells (orange vest). The side pot is a very popular option at our tournaments, and most boats enter (but please understand that there is no obligation). The amount collected is split 50/50, with 50% going to the participating angler weighing in the heaviest bass, and 50% retained by the club to help pay for our Liability Insurance.
After all livewells are checked and BB is colleted, we will have a pre-tournament meeting where we will have a time check, and go over general rules, procedures, and safety precautions. At least one member of each team must attend this meeting. It will be held on the dock.
WEATHER PERMITTING, after the pre-T meeting, the Tournament Directors will motor out and start setting boats off. Boats will take off in boat number order. Please show your boat number around to help everyone align themselves in boat number order. Higher numbers, please lay back. The Tournament Directors are traffic control at this point, and will direct everyone past them for take off. VERY IMPORTANT: Idle up to them, and DO NOT TAKE OFF until given clearance to do so. Please be aware of, and abide by, the no-wake area.
After the pre-T meeting has concluded, Life jackets must be worn, whenever the gasoline engine is <>RUNNING<>, and the boat is <>FLOATING FREE<>. Please understand this rule, and abide by it. The penalty is a DQ for the day.
Weigh in for Clearwater is at 3pm. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD. Boats must be back at the marina, and have their boat number turned in to the officers PRIOR TO 3pm. Anyone who does not have their boat number turned in PRIOR TO 3pm, will not receive a weight for the day. Please be in early.
The scales will be set up, and operational 10 minutes prior to the scheduled end of the tournament. No one is allowed to weigh in before that. Weigh in will be on a first come first served basis, so have plenty of water in your weigh-in bag. Because of their weigh-in duties, the officers will weigh-in first.
Checks will be presented immediately following weigh-in tabulations.
