Ian When it is not "the rainy season" the source of the water in the river, is the sewage treatment plant for this area. Yes it does flow. Because the treatment plant is in dire need of repair, the water is basically untreated sewage from town. (effluence) I didn’t believe this when I was told, so I drove up there and looked. Sure enough, it’s true. If you Google Earth the river you can see where it starts and how to find the road up. That’s what I did. Sad that all that “stuff” is flowing into the bay. However there are several people fighting for repair of the plant. One of them made a video of just how bad he thought it is. And with the Riviera Nayarit project in progress hopefully our system will upgraded soon. I would like to add that this is not just a local problem. Google, sewage runoff, and you’ll find many places in the US and Canada with the same problem. It is not just Mexico!! Oh, and those several people fighting for this change, could use your/our/my support.
