I have Zerizon - and called them before going down - they FIXED my phone :-) before I left - so that it would work in Mexico - it worked well in PV - but not worth a damn in Rincon. and the cost of 99 cents a minute was a shock. This year Verizon and Qwest are teaming up - you might give them a buzz and see what is new ?? I am going to go back to using the computers available all over town and the phone cards - great service and very cheep.
