Just my own opinion of course. I don't see much appeal to the "all inclusives". The food is nothing special and becomes pretty repetitive after a bit. Meals in the LaPenita/Guayabitos area are very reasonable. A couple places downtown do great grilled chicken and sides as a takeout. We get a place with kitchenette facilities, fix some of our own meals, and eat out at a variety of places the rest of the time. Lots of fresh fruit is available in the market. Unless you're a big eater, such an approach may do you quite well and actually save some money.
