About ten years ago my cousin travelled to the west coast on a summer vacation and planned to visit with me and my folks in Southern California. He called quite late that night from Santa Barbara to tell us his whereabouts. Despite the late hour my dad insisted Bill come the rest of the way that night, saying we all would wait up for him.
