Posted by Margaret So, even though I couldn't receive the Eucharist, and know I don't believe so many things, I felt very much at home in this congregation on this evening. I am still not brave enough to contact the priest myself though, mainly as I think I will only ever be on the fringes. I needed to tell someone about going to this Mass though so I came here!

Hi Jo,
I actually went to Mass this Sunday. I had gone to a wonderful performance of the Messiah the night before at the same church and for some reason really felt the urge to go to Mass. The music at Mass was good, and there was a really good flautist. Good music always helps me feel more at home!
At the end of the Mass two special things happened. The priest invited children up for a blessing. As it was an evening Mass, there weren't many, but a mother brought forward a very young baby. It was so special the way the priest blessed the baby. Then the priest called forward a young teacher who had been in the music group. It was apparently her last time as she is moving towns. He spoke to her and prayed for her and blessed her in front of the whole congregation. Both of these things were very natural and very warmly human.
