Yes Margaret - I often find there is much wisdom among people when we are in touch with the earth, and in touch with what is really true and nourishing. Often enough we only find it through our suffering. In this too, the gospel continues to make sense as it reinforces the common wisdom of peoples.
: I just read your reflection "Rising from
: the Dead - a young teacher's
: perspective.".
: There was a lot in there. But one comment
: along the way was especially pertinent to me
: just now - the comment about the love and
: compassion in the song "Crash and
: Burn."
: Last week I went to a funeral of a young
: woman, just 19, who had died of a
: degenerative disease. (Sadly she has a
: brother just a few years younger who also
: has the same disease.) She was diagnosed
: with this disease when she was just 5 and
: has lived with increasing disability since
: then.
: Her funeral was one of the most beautiful I
: have been to. It was held on the family
: farm. Quite a few people spoke very movingly
: about her, and at the end, dozens of pink
: balloons were let go into the rural sky. Her
: brother organised the music for the funeral
: and one of the choices was "Crash and
: Burn". It was humbling to realise that
: two young people, faced with such a harsh
: reality in life, could enjoy music that had
: such a compassionate message.
