Posted by Kevin Bates Noori has a wife and a number of children who are Australian citizens, waiting for him to come home. He has jumped through all the hoops required by the Government and still finds himself behind the razor wire at Villawood. There is something mysteriously evil about the processes of DIMIA and its operatives. It makes all the flag-waving, hand-on-heart patriotism of this week's Australia day look pretty pathetic. We have our own little echoes of Guantanamo Bay right here at home, where the practice of law has been suspended by the government and replaced with a kind of Nazi-esque righteousness and lack of real accountability. With the Prime Minister calling for a better teaching of history so that we can all become integrated into his particular cultural ghetto, we have a long journey ahead of us if Australia is to Advance with any degree of Fairness!

This morning's Herald reports on the continued detention in Villawood of our longest-lasting detaineee, Naqib Noori. He has been held in detention for over six years, and four months' ago it was decided that he was eligible for release.
