They turned out to be pretty fresh in the implementation of the new IR legislatsion as well. As I heard the story, having worked her way up for some years to a wage of $9.00/hour, she was at the age of 16, apparently confonted by her employer and two goons, (often referred to as "security") and told to sign a contract, (which she apparently was legally too young to sign), agreeing to a wage of $7.00/hour. So much for our principled Catholic Industrial Relations Minister, boasting that the new legislation would be good for the workers and fairer for all concerned!! Where the hell is this government taking us? And where the hell is the Opposition?

The day that Kevin Andrews' and John Howards' legislation passed through the Federal Parliament, a daughter of friends of mine in Atherton, Far North Queensland was summoned to the office of her employers at Woolworths in Cairns in Far North Queensland.
