Archbishop Pell's comments comparing the sexual abuse scandals with abortion are highly problematic, awkwardly put, and sure to set him up for further criticism if not ridicule. Any comments around these issues need to be much more nuanced, real and based in sound theology for them to resonate with people now. They are long past taking church's leaders comments as gospel and have grown up to the point where they will tell you so - thank God.

What a lovely thing to see the Holy Father taking such joy in the presence of so many young people he was in his element and it was a clearly a moment of real joy for him.
