Posted by Kevin Bates Mary's clear embracing of the central mystery of God's love models for us and encourages me at any rate to keep embracing that same mystery with new vigour and hope. Our labour pains are severe at the moment, so we must keep breathing and pushing so that what comes next will not be still-born, but rather something more beautiful and healing than anyhthing we have seen before.

Tpday's feast of the Assumption of Mary provides us with a chance to touch base with the purity and the clarity of our christian dream. In the midst of all the pain that the church is going through - (you hardly go through a day without hearing of some new case of sexual abuse or other church mayhem) -we still have our deeper faith in the gospel and in the Word who is still born among us, just as he was all those years ago at Bethlehem.
