Posted by Kevin Bates I have a sense that it's not just the Chruch that is in trouble and in deep pain. Our whole society is in some sort of crisis at the moment. Values are not clear, and everyone has a feeding-frenzy when anyone such as the above-named people get themselves into hot water. The feeding-frenzy perhaps protects us from facing our own wounds, our own lack of clear values, our own struggles, adn we somehow feel better if we can point a finger at someone else, and avoid facing our own darkness. Let's pray for our nation, and particularly for the Church as we travel through this profoundly painful period of our journey. Let's pray that we travel through it with an ever new courage and integrity, and emerge from it a bit more like the community of justice, mercy, faith and love that our tradition calls us to become.
