Posted by Kevin Bates Now that the Asylum-Seeker issue is largely off the front pages, the authorities it seems, feel that they can act with impunity and without any accountability. I am waiting with great interest to see if we can get some verification of these stories. If they are even partly true, then our nation is sinking to a new depth with regard to human rights.

Disturbing reports, yet to be verified, are coming out of the shiny new Baxter Detention Centre near Port Augusta. These stories indicate an ever more brutal, punitive and secretive regime than we have previously heard of in other dentention facilities.
