Posted by Vic O'Callaghan (In suggesting this, I am not trying to excuse or endorse the behaviour of a despotic dictator like Saddam Hussein. I am only asking that we take a glimpse into the minds of the Iraqi people as they go about their daily chores of driving taxis, preparing meals and walking to school.) I would like us to, for one moment, to turn the current war rhetoric on its head and imagine the demands for disarmament are coming from a country another powerful country and are being directed at our country. The leader of this other country is demanding we destroy our arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. This leader is massing the worlds most powerful invading force ever seen in the history of humanity. The world is watching us to see what we are made. Dealing with an adversary while cornered brings out the worst in both parties.

Regarding situation Iraq, may I suggest a very objective exercise?
Will we stand and fight, or will we capitulate?
Will we lose face and walk away?
Will we lay down our arms and be taken over by another country?
Will we give in before a shot is fired?
As we look at our friends as they smirk and spit on us.
As we view our future we see only humiliation.
This is exactly what the world is witnessing.
