Posted by Kevin Bates There is obviously a need for great sensitivity and wisdom, not to mention courage as the pieces of this country are put back together. There is massive grief, occasioned by both the years of repression and the violence of the past weeks. There are the varying cultural and religiosu groups seeking to have their say in the future of the country, and and there is a cultural divide between the Islamic and other local cultures and those of the coalition forces. Much mending needs to be done, and much room needs to be given to all relevant perspectives. Please God there will be peace and a peace that will stabilise soon. As Archbishop Carroll noted the other day however, the justification for this war is still hard to find. Can there not be other ways of resolving conflicts which do not cost innocent lives? I pray we find them and soon.

Now we are starting to see the faces of Iraq without the fear that the Saddam Hussein regime engendered. Now also see the daunting task facing the coalition nations as they seek to help Iraq build itself.
