Posted by Kevin Bates Professor John Dwyer, from Sydney's South-easter Health Area spoke the most clear commonsense I have heard on the matter on ABC radio today. He maintains that the health professionals have the resources, the skills and the ideas necessary to resolve the problems if only the States and the Commonwealth could agree to work together in a bipartisan way and cease bickering and blaming each other for the state of affairs. The Commonwealth keeps proposing bandaid solutions and nothing changes in the structures and processes where change is needed. Wouldn't it be good if the politicians listened to those on the ground who know what the solutions are, and responded respectfully to them instead of protecting their own vain egos. In the meantime, the sick wait on trolleys - sometimes up to three days as my Mum had to in Melbourne a while ago.
