Posted by Kevin Bates The will for war was stronger than the will for truth and now the truth is having its day. John Howard professes not to be embarrassed by the revelations coming out of the U.S. and Britain. The stonewalling continues and so does the suffering caused by last year's invasion. Peace is hard to detect, even though Saddam's brutal regime has been brought down. It will be interesting to see how things develop as the enquiries in the States and Britain unfold. I wonder will we ever learn to try things differently. The gospel calls us to that - but it's hard to be different from the prevailing power!!

For the first time in Australia's history we went to war against another nation - that is excepting for our first assault on the aboriginal people to begin with! This time we went in on the basis of intelligence that now looks highly flawed.
