Posted by Kevin Bates It's doubtful we'll hear the call too well - It's all a bit too simple really, and our world continues to tear itself to shreds. Just today we read of the U.S and its efforts to block the less expensive AIDS medications to African countries in favour of its own more expensive brands. We read of a priest being murdered in Uganda, and the killing in big numbers goes on in Israel/Palestine. In Iraq the future is uncertain and filled with danger. In Afghanistan likewise, a government struggles to hold power over just the capital city. In Melbourne the Underworld continues its killing spree unabated, and in Canberra our leaders get stuck into each other over our few troops in Iraq, when most Iraqis don't even know they are there!! In the Church, ideologies battle for control and the politics there become more ruthless and divisive. Jesus still sets his face for Jerusalem. Would that we could join him next week!!

The wonderful week of celebrating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus is almost with us. In world made complex by economic realities, political struggles and religious intolerances, the simple gift of this week can shine through and call us to a new place.
