I have always thought that saying "sorry" is not enough. Real actions equals justice is what is required and neither the Coalition nor the ALP nor the smaller political parties have bitten the bullet on the great and ever growing big black hole in which billions of dollars has never satisfied.
I am pleased that ATSIC is abolished. It was a piss up club really.
Time to give Aboriginals training for jobs, education courses based upon personal aptitudes for a trade or profession or self employment.

: A prophetic songline from Elton John when one
: considers the Prime Minister's reported
: remarks yesterday. In response to a plea
: from another Government member for the early
: white settles to be acknowledged as much as
: the aboriginal peoples, the PM - to be fair -
: noted that it is important that we
: acknowledge and honour the aboriginal peoples
: and their part in our history.
: However, he then went on to say that in his
: view the time for saying sorry to the
: aboriginal communities has now passed,
: because no one has asked him to say sorry for
: sometime!!
: Honestly, where does this bloke get off? Why
: would you ask someone for an apology when he
: has refused it for years? Doesn't he also
: realise that if he were to make an apology
: now, it would in all likelihood be refused
: for Aboriginal Australia, because they would
: hardly be able to believe that he means it!
: So Mr Howard - the time has past - you were
: right - but not for the reasons you gave!
