Posted by Kevin F Bates Then we move into an election campaign, where the mud is flying thick and fast. The accusations and denials start to make headlines and as we are seeing at the moment, these are often members of the same Party having cracks at each other! The level of our public discourse is a sad advertisement, and certainly provides no encouragement to our youg people to live with integrity. The only rule worth having it would seem is the rule of total self-interest. Lately I've been using the movie "Finding Nemo" with some student groups, and noting the flock of seagulls who appeared there. Their only spoken word was a repeated mantra of 'Mine". Our pollies must have missed the action of some of the other characters in that film!

When I'm working with children and youth in our schools, I often reflect on themes of integrity and truthfulness as being essential tools for our maturing and growth.
