I guess they think it's 'phalic' holder. It probably does allow for a stronger pull and therefore more smoke,though. I've noticed that on some holder clips (not Ed's though) it looks like no one bothered to prep the holder-clean out or widen it before it's first use. Sometimes there may be residual pieces of plastic. A good squirt with canned air helps. I find it helps ejecter types to carefully squeeze some clear glue between the ejecter and the holder,stand it up and let it dry. "Testors Model Master Clear Parts" cement has a very fine tip allowing you to get it in there-of course you can't use the ejecter after that. But I think you'll notice more smoke.
